5% OF ALL UKEG SALES WILL BE DONATED TO THE SURFRIDER FOUNDATION!
In honor of Earth Day, and our love for nature, GrowlerWerks is donating 5 percent of its proceeds from all uKeg sales made between now and Monday, April 24.
On Saturday, many people will toast Mother Earth at the edge of her feet -- the beach. We will pack our vehicles full of friends, surf equipment, bonfire supplies -- and a supply of our favorite beer -- and drive through the coastal mountains until greeted with salty air and sandy shores. And a uKeg will help minimize the footprint left behind!
We enjoy 363 miles of mostly free and open coastline in Oregon where litter has become a major issue. With previous efforts such as the Leave No Trace
campaign and Oregon's current littering laws not working as hoped, our state Legislature has proposed House Bill 3441
. It would restrict the consumption of alcoholic beverages on public beaches. The bill is aimed at eliminating all the left-behind bottles and cans, taking down a good pint in the process. The bottle deposit cost
to encourage recycling has also recently doubled from 5 to 10 cents per bottle or can.
If you could save a dime on a bottle,
what's the first thing you'd like to do?
Buy more craft beer to fill uKegs with, of course! While HB 3441 is something that has been met with heavy skepticism and will most likely go to the wayside, as did the 2014 smoking ban
, the uKeg transcends the litter concern. Having a reusable container, designed to never let a single drop go to waste by keeping your beverage fresh to the last sip with 100 percent recyclable CO2 cartridges, the uKeg brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "drinking responsibly."
Don't take our word for it, get one and see for yourself. Five percent of proceeds made from uKeg sales between April 21 and 5 p.m. Monday, April 24, will be donated to the Surfrider Foundation Portland Chapter
